About Us

The McMahon School was established in 2004 by Champion Irish Dancer, Moira McMahon. Having offered several classes around WNY throughout the years, our school planted its feet firmly in Rochester, NY in 2012. Our dancers compete in local Feiseanna, Regional, National & World level Competitions; and has brought home numerous awards in solo and team dancing for all levels of Irish dance. The McMahon dancers also perform throughout WNY at various St Patrick Day events, the St Patrick's Day Parade, festivals, parties, schools, fundraisers and community events.

Moira McMahon TCRG, ADCRG, is a product of the world famous Butler Academy of Irish Dance. Moira danced competitively and for exhibition since the age of four. Once the premier dancer of Rochester; she consistently placed in the top 10 at the North American Championships since the age of ten, the top 5 at the Regional Championships, and also qualified seven consecutive years for the World Championships. Moira competed in Ireland for the World Championships in solo dancing. In 2004, Moira became a Certified Irish dance instructor by An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in Dublin, Ireland. In 2013, Moira achieved her ADCRG diploma making her eligible to adjudicate competitions at any level throughout the world. McMahon School of Irish Dance

It is the McMahon School’s goal to keep Irish culture alive through music and dance and to pass it on to new generations of dancers. The atmosphere in the McMahon School is one in which students are encouraged to develop their own individual talents as well as learn to work well with others. This is best accomplished when the student and teacher share a common goal: to learn as much as possible from each other and to have fun while doing so. The McMahon School gives the opportunity to dance recreationally or competitively while developing a sense of self-worth and accomplishment. We are dedicated to teaching students as individuals, instilling a positive self-confidence and helping them to achieve their highest level of Irish dance. We strive to instill a sense of unity and friendship among the dancers and their families through a variety of Irish cultural events and opportunities at McMahon School of Irish Dance.
